A forward-thinking school in Hertfordshire is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to join their vibrant team. This crucial role involves providing tailored, individualised support to a primary-aged pupil with complex special educational needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. You will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing environment, meticulously implementing Education, Health and Care Plan targets, and collaborating closely with external therapists to support the pupil's holistic development. This position offers flexible contract options, including long-term, daily supply, or permanent arrangements, with an attractive daily rate ranging from £85 to £110, for an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated and consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with complex needs.
* Help to create an engaging and accessible learning environment for the individual.
* Implement specific targets and strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP.
* Work collaboratively with class teachers, parents, and external professionals.
* Assist with personal care routines and promote independence where appropriate.
* Document pupil progress and contribute to review meetings effectively.
About You
* You possess proven experience supporting pupils with complex SEN, such as ASD or PMLD.
* You demonstrate exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience in your approach.
* You are adept at building strong, trusting relationships with children.
* You have a clear understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans and their implementation.
* You are a proactive team player with excellent communication skills.
