At a thriving school, we are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist primary setting in Newbury. This vital role involves supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) who present with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and speech and language difficulties. You will work both 1:1 and within small groups, providing tailored assistance to help children achieve their full potential. We are open to discussions around various contract types, from long-term and short-term to daily supply or permanent positions, with an immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to primary-aged pupils holding Education, Health and Care Plans.
* Implement bespoke learning and behaviour strategies designed to meet individual pupil needs.
* Facilitate engaging 1:1 and small group interventions across various subjects.
* Assist in the development of pupils' communication skills, social interactions, and independent living skills.
* Contribute proactively to maintaining a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
* Work collaboratively with class teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure holistic pupil progress.
About You
* Demonstrable experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
* A clear understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans and their practical application.
* Possess exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience when working with vulnerable pupils.
* Exhibit strong communication skills, capable of building positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
* A proactive and collaborative team player, eager to contribute to a dedicated educational team.
* Committed to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and child welfare at all times.
