Job Description

Dunbar Education is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Year 6 Teacher to join a supportive primary school in Wilstead, Bedfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pupils in their final year of primary school. The role is a 12-month contract, beginning in January 2025, offering the chance to be part of a dedicated team focused on preparing pupils for a smooth transition to secondary school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, effective lessons that meet the Year 6 curriculum standards and inspire a love of learning.
  • Pupil Progression: Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing individualized support to ensure each child reaches their full potential.
  • Preparation for Secondary Transition: Work to build pupils' confidence and readiness for secondary education, focusing on academic and personal development.
  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment, managing behaviour effectively and fostering respect among pupils.
  • Parental Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, keeping them informed about their child's progress and development.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Required for teaching at primary level.
  • Experience in Key Stage 2: Ideally with a focus on Year 6.
  • Commitment to Excellence: A passion for education and a commitment to supporting pupil success.
  • Organised and Adaptable: Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt to different pupil needs.
  • Team Player: A collaborative approach, working well with staff, parents, and pupils alike.
