Year 6 Teacher

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join our thriving and supportive primary school in Potters Bar.

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all learners, fostering a love of learning, and preparing pupils for their SATs and beyond.




Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of Year 6 students, ensuring they make excellent progress in all areas.
  • Assessment: Regularly assess pupil's work, providing constructive feedback, and tracking their progress in line with school policies.
  • SATs Preparation: Prepare pupils for their end-of-Key Stage 2 assessments, providing targeted support to help them achieve their best.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, promoting good behavior and a love of learning.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral support to pupils, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, and independence as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the learning and development of all students.



Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally in Year 6.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and assessment procedures at Key Stage 2.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Desirable:

  • Experience in preparing students for SATs.
  • A track record of helping students achieve strong academic outcomes.
  • Experience in using a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
