Teaching Assistant - Autism Support

Dunbar Education are working with a Primary School within hertfordshire seeking for a Teaching Assistant that specialises in Autism Support.

The Role

We are seeking a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team, specialising in autism support. This role involves working on a one-to-one basis and in small groups with children who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and committed to making a significant difference in the lives of our pupils.



Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with autism, helping them to engage and succeed in their learning.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Facilitate small group activities that promote social and communication skills.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.


Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 in Numeracy & Literacy (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, SEN team, and external advisors.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism, is advantageous.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and nurturing personality.
