Teaching Assistant - ADHD & Autism Specialist

Dunbar Education are working with a Primary School who is looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant.

As a Teaching Assistant specialising in ADHD and Autism, you will provide tailored support to pupils with diverse learning needs. Your expertise will help create a positive and engaging atmosphere, enabling pupils to thrive academically and socially.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with classroom teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for pupils with ADHD and Autism.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to pupils, promoting their academic and social development.
  • Help create and maintain a structured and calming classroom environment.
  • Use specialised strategies and resources to engage pupils and facilitate learning.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and specialists, to support pupils' needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging their confidence and independence.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or special education (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Experience working with children with ADHD and Autism in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of different learning styles and strategies to support diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with students.
