Hours: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: Grade 6 - £24,702 - £26,873 pro rata (actual salary £16,793 - £18,269) (dependent on experience)



About Us:

We are working on behalf of a vibrant and inclusive primary school located in the heart of Oxford. They are dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for all their pupils, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive. Their Communication and Interaction Resource Base is a specialized unit within the school, supporting children with a range of communication and interaction difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).



The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join the dynamic team in the Communication and Interaction Resource Base. This role is pivotal in supporting the educational, social, and emotional development of pupils with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with communication and interaction difficulties, both in the Resource Base and mainstream classroom settings.
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons and activities that meet the needs of individual pupils.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and work closely with the SENCO to monitor and review pupil progress.
  • Support pupils in developing communication, social skills, and independence, using a variety of strategies and interventions.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting pupil engagement and well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil's education and care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date with best practices in SEN support.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly in the areas of communication and interaction.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, NVQ).
  • Understanding of strategies to support pupils with ASD and other communication difficulties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of children with SEN.
