Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you dream of working in a school that's not only inclusive but truly celebrates each child's unique abilities? Whether you're newly qualified or an experienced professional, we have an incredible opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a SENCO at our exceptional SEN school in SE1!

About Us:

We are a specialist SEN school located in the vibrant SE1 area, offering a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment where children with a wide range of additional needs are supported to achieve their full potential. Our school is known for its innovative approach, nurturing atmosphere, and dedication to providing personalised education that empowers our students to thrive.

Our school community is passionate about making a real difference, and we are proud of our caring, collaborative team. From the moment you step through our doors, you'll feel the positive, can-do attitude that drives everything we do.

The Role:

As our new SENCO, you'll have the opportunity to help shape and lead our approach to SEN provision, ensuring that each and every child receives the tailored support they need. This role is perfect for someone looking to make a lasting impact, whether you're just starting your career or bringing years of experience to the table. You'll be guided by an experienced leadership team and will receive ongoing professional development to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate SEN provision, working closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and external specialists to ensure pupils receive the support they need to succeed.
  • Work with classroom teachers to differentiate lessons, ensuring that the curriculum is accessible to all pupils and meets their individual needs.
  • Liaise with parents and carers, keeping them informed about their child's progress and ensuring they are part of the decision-making process.
  • Support the implementation and review of EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans), ensuring that they are regularly updated and reflect the evolving needs of each child.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, using data and feedback to track pupil progress and adapt strategies to maximise outcomes.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support children with a range of needs.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to ensure pupils receive comprehensive support.

What We're Looking For:

We welcome applications from both experienced SENCOs and newly qualified teachers who are eager to take on this rewarding challenge. You don't need to be an expert yet-what's most important to us is your passion for SEN, your dedication to supporting children, and your willingness to learn. We offer a nurturing and supportive environment where you'll receive all the training and guidance you need to succeed.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with SEND, with a child-centred approach and a belief in every child's potential.
  • A willingness to undertake the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) if not already achieved.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • A collaborative and reflective attitude, with the ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Resilience, creativity, and patience-qualities that are key to supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

Why Join Us?

  • A Specialist and Nurturing Environment: You'll be part of a school that truly cares about its pupils and staff. We provide a supportive and collaborative environment where everyone is encouraged to grow and succeed.
  • Ongoing Professional Development: Whether you're newly qualified or have been in the role for years, we will provide the necessary training, mentoring, and CPD opportunities to ensure you feel fully equipped to thrive as a SENCO.
  • A Rewarding Career: Working with children with SEND is not only meaningful but incredibly fulfilling. You will see firsthand the positive impact of your work and have the chance to make a real difference in children's lives.
  • A Collaborative Team: Our staff work together with enthusiasm and passion, ensuring that every child receives the personalised attention and care they need to succeed.
  • Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive salary package in line with experience and qualifications, along with other benefits.
