Dunbar Education is thrilled to be recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted-rated Good primary school in Northampton, seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in Speech and Language Support. This is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' communication skills and overall educational experience in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Role Overview
As a SEN Teaching Assistant focused on Speech and Language Support, you'll work closely with students who require additional help in developing their communication skills. Collaborating with speech therapists, teachers, and the SENCo, you will deliver targeted interventions and support tailored to individual needs, helping students gain confidence and succeed in their learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with speech and language difficulties, adapting activities to enhance communication skills
- Assist in implementing speech and language interventions and strategies provided by speech therapists and teachers
- Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages students to express themselves and participate fully
- Monitor and record student progress, offering insights and feedback to teachers and parents to inform ongoing support strategies
- Build positive relationships with students, promoting confidence and self-esteem through effective communication
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children with speech and language difficulties, ideally in a primary school or SEN setting
- A strong understanding of speech and language development and related intervention strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and nurturing approach
- The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a cohesive support plan for each student
- A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping students reach their communication potential
