Dunbar Education is thrilled to be recruiting on behalf of a great primary school in Northampton for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in Behaviour Support and Autism Support. Role Overview

As an SEN Teaching Assistant with a focus on Behaviour and Autism Support, you will play a crucial role in helping students with diverse needs thrive in the classroom. Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo, and external specialists, you'll provide one-to-one and group support, implementing effective strategies that enhance learning and promote positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students with autism and behavioural challenges, tailoring interventions to meet individual needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in collaboration with teachers, ensuring a positive and conducive learning environment
  • Foster social skills and emotional regulation in students, encouraging them to engage positively with peers and staff
  • Monitor and document student progress, offering insights and feedback to inform ongoing support and interventions
  • Build trusting relationships with students, promoting their confidence, independence, and overall well-being

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children with autism and behavioural needs, ideally in a primary school or SEN setting
  • A strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective behaviour management techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach to supporting students
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a cohesive support plan
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of students
