Location: Bletchley , Milton Keynes

SEN School (ages 11-18, primarily with SEMH profiles)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Level 3 Community Support Worker to join our team in Milton Keynes, supporting eight male students aged 11-18. These students have autistic profiles accompanied by anxiety and challenges related to speech, language and communication, which limit their ability to engage in larger settings. They receive individualised support in a small environment from their key workers to effectively address barriers to learning.

Requirements:

  • DBS on the update service
  • A minimum of 6 months' experience in a UK SEN environment
  • Access to a personal vehicle
  • Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2 in English and Maths
  • Full-time commitment required, between 8 AM and 4 PM, with direct contact hours from 9 AM to 3 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with SEMH needs in regulating their behavior and emotions in the classroom and broader school setting
  • Plan and facilitate school trips and other extracurricular activities to enhance holistic support and enrichment
  • Carry out activities designed by teachers, tailoring them to cater to the varied needs of students with SEMH profiles
  • Manage timelines for tasks such as marking assignments and administrative duties, while prioritizing students' emotional well-being
  • Handle workplace changes and disruptions, including unplanned staff or student absences, unexpected parental visits, and supervisory responsibilities with professionalism and empathy
  • Engage in sustained physical activities, including bending, lifting, and running during PE lessons, as well as assisting with personal care needs while adhering to approved physical intervention protocols
  • Facilitate outdoor learning, lunchtime, break times, and off-site educational events in various weather conditions to promote social and emotional growth
