SEN Learning Support Assistant (Specialising in Behaviour Management)
Location: Primary School in Buckingham
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join the team at a primary school in Buckingham. This role requires a specialist in behaviour management to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they thrive in a nurturing and structured learning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing challenging behaviours and will be passionate about making a positive difference in young children's lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and SENCo to provide tailored support to pupils with behavioural needs, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
  • Develop and implement individual behaviour management plans and adapt strategies to suit each pupil's needs.
  • Support students in both one-to-one and group settings, focusing on engagement, learning, and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in preparing resources and implementing activities that promote positive behaviours and social skills.
  • Regularly monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and SENCo.
  • Foster a supportive and trusting relationship with students, creating a safe space where they feel valued and understood.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, particularly with a focus on SEN and behaviour management in a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and positive under challenging circumstances.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with children, staff, and parents.
  • An empathetic and adaptable approach, with the ability to think creatively to engage and support children with behavioural needs.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in SEN or behaviour management (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant or similar).
  • Additional training in behaviour management techniques, such as Team Teach or similar.
