Position Overview:

As a specialist agency, we are seeking a dedicated and professional individual to provide 1:1 support and supervision for pupils aged 16-18. Your role will focus on fostering their engagement in the learning process and working collaboratively to achieve established goals and objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Personalized Support: Offer targeted 1:1 support to pupils, encouraging active participation in their learning and guiding them towards set aims and objectives.

  • Program Delivery: Plan, deliver, and document sections of individualized learning programs, ensuring that each pupil's needs are met.

  • Emotional Well-being: Support vulnerable young people by enhancing their emotional well-being, raising their aspirations, and helping them achieve their full potential.

Main Purpose:

  • Curriculum Planning: Design and implement an inspiring curriculum that facilitates good progress for all pupils, ensuring their learning builds towards a clear and defined end goal.

Key Tasks:

  • Lesson Delivery: Plan and teach high-quality lessons that promote good or outstanding progress, embedding key concepts in pupils' long-term memory.

  • Target Setting: Establish clear learning targets based on prior attainment, addressing the unique needs of each pupil.

  • Special Needs Consideration: Carefully plan and address the special educational needs of pupils, ensuring inclusivity in your teaching approach.

  • Subject Expertise: Develop or rapidly acquire expert knowledge in the subjects you teach, ensuring effective delivery.

  • Concept Understanding: Enable all pupils to grasp key concepts, regularly checking understanding and addressing any misconceptions.

  • Assessment & Feedback: Continuously assess pupil work and progress, providing regular feedback to inform and refine your teaching practices.

  • Reading Prioritization: Focus on developing pupils' reading skills to enhance their fluency, confidence, and enjoyment of learning.

  • Scheme Development: Develop subject-specific schemes of work for all year groups, ensuring they are coherently planned and sequenced to build sufficient knowledge and, where applicable, meaningful accreditation.

  • End-Point Focus: Ensure all learning is directed towards a final goal that prepares pupils for their next stage of education, training, or employment.

  • Progress Reporting: Report on pupil progress in accordance with school policy, maintaining clear and accurate records.

  • Learning Environment: Maintain a stimulating, engaging, and safe learning environment conducive to focused learning.

  • Behavior Management: Positively manage pupil behavior in line with school policy, ensuring a respectful and productive classroom atmosphere.

  • Pastoral Role: Undertake pastoral and support roles as required, contributing to the holistic development of pupils.

  • School Engagement: Participate in school events, contribute to the wider school community, and support whole-school routines and duties.

  • Professional Development: Take responsibility for your own professional growth, actively engaging in performance management activities.
