Science Teacher (SEN School)

Job Description

Dunbar Education are seeking an effective Science teacher to work for a fantastic school that caters for children with a range of needs, from dyslexia and dyspraxia as well as those with school anxiety, autism and physical or mental needs. The role involves contributing to the department's development and serving as an effective Form Tutor. Teaching will cover levels up to GCSE Double Award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Mark work regularly in line with the school's Assessment & Reporting Policy.
  • Use assessments to enhance student learning and report progress to both the Head of Science and parents.
  • Maintain high behaviour standards by implementing the school's Behaviour Policy.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Adhere to all relevant school policies.

Departmental Contribution:

  • Support the department's development and foster cross-curricular collaboration.
  • Help develop schemes of learning and resources in collaboration with the Head of Science.
  • Share best practices and contribute to whole-school initiatives.

Form Tutor Role:

  • Implement the tutor time programme as outlined in the school's Learning & Teaching Policy.
  • Be the first point of contact for students' pastoral concerns.
  • Support vulnerable students and provide regular updates to parents through reports and meetings.

Additional Information:

  • Maximum 25 teaching periods per week.
  • Class sizes range from 2 to 12 students.

Skills Required:

  • Innovative and creative in contributing to school priorities and improving student outcomes.
  • Capable of managing daily challenges, prioritising tasks, and working independently.
