Position: Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Bedford, Milton Keynes

Role Overview :

Dunbar Education collaborates with a prominent SEN school in Bedford, dedicated to assisting young people aged 11 to 19 who struggle to maintain a full-time placement in mainstream education for various reasons, including those involved in the justice system. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to become a part of our dynamic team full time.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • DBS on the Update Service
  • At least 6 months of experience in the Uk working with students with SEMH needs
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and under supervision.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively work with students, teachers,and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage classes and lead planned activities in the absence of the teacher.
  • Deliver personalised learning activities to meet each student's needs.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
  • Work with teachers to develop effective teaching programs for individuals and groups.
  • Create a supportive atmosphere for students with SEN.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
  • Offer care and support for students with additional needs.
  • Assist students in developing social and emotional skills, offering guidance and encouragement.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and inform instruction.
  • Work with the SENCO and external agencies to develop behaviour support plans tailored to individual student needs.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to address challenging behaviour
