Dunbar Education is currently seeking passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our team for a September start in a SEN (Special Educational Needs) setting. As an LSA, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with special educational needs by providing invaluable support within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment that caters to the individual needs of SEN students.
  • Provide one-on-one or group support to students, assisting with academic tasks and promoting independent learning.
  • Implement specialized strategies and interventions designed to enhance students' progress and development.
  • Support students with personal care, as required, while maintaining their dignity and well-being.
  • Monitor and record student progress, contributing to the preparation of individual education plans (IEPs) and reports.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, maintaining effective communication channels.
  • Uphold the school's policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working in a SEN setting, either as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar capacity.
  • Strong understanding of different special educational needs and the ability to tailor support accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students who may exhibit challenging behavior.
  • Knowledge of relevant safeguarding procedures and the ability to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school.
