KS4 Maths Teacher - 3 days a week (SEMH & Behavioural Needs)

Dunbar Education Recruitment Agency is seeking dedicated Maths Teacher to join our team on a full-time basis. If you have at least 6 months of experience working in SEN settings and have a QTS in Maths we want to hear from you!

Hours- 3 Days A Week

Purpose of the Role:

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with behavioural challenges and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the skills and dedication to deliver high-quality Maths education in a supportive and inclusive environment?

We are seeking an exceptional KS4 Maths Teacher to join our specialist team at the school. Our school is dedicated to supporting students with behavioural issues and SEMH needs, providing them with the tools and opportunities to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 6 months of experience working in a SEN or SEMH setting.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A valid DBS certificate.
  • A current Safeguarding Certificate.
  • Additional qualifications related to SEN or SEMH (desirable).

Teaching and Learning:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, differentiated science lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with behavioural challenges and SEMH.
  • Utilise a range of teaching strategies and resources to make science accessible, exciting, and relevant for all students.
  • Continuously assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and adjusting teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, cooperation, and a sense of safety.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies tailored to students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties, ensuring a calm and orderly learning environment.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with colleagues, including SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external professionals, to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student development.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and carers, providing updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies to support their child's learning and well-being.

Individual Student Support:

  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) that address the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide personalised interventions and support to help students overcome barriers to learning, build self-esteem, and achieve their academic goals.

Safeguarding and Welfare:

  • Ensure the safeguarding of all students by adhering strictly to school policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular safeguarding training and maintain a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding issues and protocols.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create engaging, differentiated lesson plans that meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH and behavioural challenges.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.
