Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEN School)

Dunbar Education is currently seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a SEN (Special Educational Needs) school. Requirements:

  • Valid DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Previous experience in a UK educational setting

Responsibilities:

  • Organise and supervise an appropriate learning environment and resources tailored to SEN students.
  • Collaborate within an established system of supervision to plan challenging teaching and learning objectives, with the ability to evaluate and adjust lessons/work plans as needed.
  • Utilise a variety of pre-determined assessment and monitoring strategies to monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities against given objectives.
  • Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports on pupil achievement, progress, and other relevant matters, ensuring the availability of appropriate evidence.
  • Systematically record progress and achievement in lessons/activities, providing evidence of the range and level of progress and attainment.
  • Implement the school's 'positive behaviour for learning' policy to proactively anticipate and manage behaviours, fostering self-control and independence among students.
  • Support parental involvement in pupils' learning and lead/contribute to meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress and achievement.
  • Produce comprehensive lesson plans, worksheets, and other materials for agreed activities.
