Position: Functional Skills Teacher/Tutor
Dunbar Education is delighted to be working with a reputable SEN Provision seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Teacher/Tutor. This role involves working with pupils who have SEN needs and behaviour challenges, helping them to develop essential Functional Skills in Maths, English, and ICT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Functional Skills lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SEN.
- Create a supportive and nurturing learning environment that encourages pupil engagement and success.
- Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback and adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members and professionals to support the holistic development of pupils.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on pupil progress and behaviour.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in teaching or tutoring Functional Skills.
- A minimum of 6 months' experience working in an SEN environment.
- Current DBS on the update service.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by pupils with SEMH needs and effective strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to teaching.
