Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Assistant

Location: Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire
Salary: £16,575 - £18,525 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only (39 weeks per year)

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring EYFS Assistant to join the team. As an EYFS Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of children aged 3-5 years, working closely with the EYFS Teacher to create a safe and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Learning and Development:

    • Assist in planning and delivering a range of engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development.
    • Support individual and group learning, helping children to develop their skills across all areas of the EYFS curriculum.
    • Observe and assess children's progress, contributing to the planning and assessment process.
  • Create a Nurturing Environment:

    • Foster positive relationships with children, helping them to feel secure and confident in the setting.
    • Encourage positive behavior and support children in developing their social skills.
    • Ensure the learning environment is safe, clean, and well-organized, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Parents:

    • Work closely with the EYFS Teacher and other staff to support the smooth running of the EYFS setting.
    • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their child's progress and well-being.
    • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
  • Support Inclusion:

    • Provide tailored support to children with additional needs, ensuring they have equal access to learning opportunities.
    • Work with the SENCO and other professionals to implement individual support plans where necessary.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • A genuine passion for working with young children and a commitment to their development and well-being.
  • Experience working in an EYFS or nursery setting is desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in Early Years Education (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ in Childcare) is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A patient, caring, and flexible approach to working with young children.
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and a commitment to safeguarding practices.
