Dunbar Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a Secondary SEN Provision. This provision supports pupils aged 11-17 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- English Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons that are accessible and engaging for students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties. Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and abilities of the students.
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement an English curriculum that aligns with national standards while being flexible enough to cater to the specific learning needs of students with SEMH.
- Student Progress: Regularly assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments. Provide constructive feedback that encourages students to reach their full potential.
- Behaviour Management: Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment. Use effective behaviour management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning atmosphere.
- Individualised Support: Collaborate with teaching assistants and support staff to provide tailored support to each student, ensuring their individual needs are met both academically and emotionally.
- Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in teaching English and supporting students with SEMH needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, including SENCOs and other specialists, to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and interventions.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months teaching English is required. Previous experience working with SEMH pupils is highly beneficial.
- Qualifications: Must be a Qualified Teacher (QTS) or a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT).
- Commitment: This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Part-time applicants will not be considered.
- Compliance: Must hold an up-to-date DBS on the Update Service.
