Design and Technology (DT) Technician

Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Contract Type: Short-Term Contract (Immediate Start)
Working Hours: Full-Time

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Design and Technology Technician to join a dynamic educational team on a short-term contract with an immediate start. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the DT department by managing equipment, assisting in practical lessons, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment and Resource Management: Oversee the maintenance and organization of workshop tools, machinery, and equipment. Ensure all tools are in good working condition and ready for use.

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to uphold health and safety standards. Address any issues promptly and liaise with relevant staff for repairs or replacements.

  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and guidance to both staff and students during practical sessions. Prepare and set up equipment for lessons, ensuring all materials are available and functional.

  • Workshop Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment. Perform routine cleaning and tidying of workspaces, including specialised areas such as the food room.

  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage stock levels of materials and supplies. Assist in ordering new materials as necessary and keep accurate records of inventory.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in a technical support role, preferably within a design and technology or educational setting.

  • Strong knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and equipment maintenance.

  • Understanding of health and safety regulations related to workshop environments.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
