We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic individual to join a inclusive school as an ASD Support Assistant, focusing on primary pupils. This vital role involves providing specialist support to children on the autism spectrum, helping them navigate their learning journey within a nurturing environment. You will be instrumental in implementing tailored strategies, including structured routines, sensory integration, and communication support, all within a welcoming specialist ASD provision. This position offers flexible contract options, ranging from daily supply and short-term placements to long-term and permanent opportunities, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to primary pupils with ASD.
* Implement structured routines and visual aids to promote predictability and independence.
* Utilise a range of sensory strategies to support regulation and engagement.
* Facilitate effective communication using appropriate tools and techniques.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and SENCOs to track pupil progress and adapt support.
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe and understood.
About You
* Proven experience supporting primary-aged children, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
* A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of pupils with special educational needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong rapport.
* Ability to work proactively and independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach to daily challenges and successes.
* Commitment to continuous professional development in SEN practices.
