A dedicated school in the Colchester area is seeking an exceptional 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide focused, long-term assistance to a primary-aged pupil. This vital role involves supporting a young learner with complex needs, which may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, or sensory impairments. You will play a crucial part in their daily learning journey, fostering a positive and inclusive educational experience within a supportive primary setting. Various contract options are available, including long-term, daily supply, and permanent positions, with an attractive daily rate ranging from £85 to £110, starting as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the individual needs of a primary pupil.
* Build a strong, trusting rapport to facilitate effective engagement and learning.
* Successfully implement personalised Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
* Liaise effectively with external therapists and school staff to ensure holistic support.
* Assist in adapting learning materials and environments to meet specific requirements.
* Promote the pupil's independence and foster their social and emotional development.
About You
* You possess proven experience supporting pupils with complex Special Educational Needs, such as ASD, PMLD, or sensory impairment.
* You demonstrate exceptional patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to education.
* You are an excellent communicator, capable of collaborating effectively with pupils, staff, and external professionals.
* You are proactive, adaptable, and confident in responding to diverse learning styles and challenges.
