A supportive school in Ely, Cambridgeshire, is actively seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their specialist provision immediately. This vital role involves working closely with secondary pupils who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing crucial assistance with behaviour support and emotional regulation. You will play a key part in helping pupils reintegrate effectively into their learning environment, fostering a positive educational experience. We are considering candidates for a range of contract options, including long-term, daily supply, short-term, or permanent positions, with a competitive daily rate of £95 - £120.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support to secondary pupils with SEMH needs.
* Implement effective strategies for positive behaviour management and de-escalation.
* Assist pupils in developing their emotional regulation skills and resilience.
* Facilitate the successful reintegration of pupils back into the main learning environment.
* Collaborate closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure comprehensive pupil support plans are followed.
* Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging atmosphere for all learners.
About You
* You possess prior experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally within an SEN or specialist provision setting.
* A strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is essential.
* You demonstrate exceptional patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
* Your communication skills are excellent, allowing you to build rapport with pupils, staff, and parents effectively.
* You are proactive, adaptable, and committed to making a tangible difference in pupils' lives.
