A flourishing school in Bedfordshire is seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join its specialist provision, focusing on primary-aged pupils. This vital role involves providing tailored support to children on the autism spectrum, implementing structured routines, deploying effective sensory strategies, and fostering strong communication development. We are looking for an individual who can commit to various contract types, including long-term, short-term, daily supply, or permanent positions, offering a competitive daily rate between £90 and £115, with an immediate start available.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialised 1:1 and small group support to primary pupils with autism spectrum conditions.
* Implement and maintain structured routines and visual aids to support pupil learning and independence.
* Develop and apply effective sensory strategies to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
* Facilitate and enhance communication development through various methods, including PECS or Makaton where appropriate.
* Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging educational activities tailored to individual pupil needs.
* Collaborate closely with class teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and adapt support strategies effectively.

* You possess a proven track record of working effectively with primary-aged children on the autism spectrum.
* You demonstrate a deep understanding of varied communication strategies and sensory needs associated with ASD.
* You are proactive, patient, and highly adaptable to individual pupil requirements and changing classroom dynamics.
* You exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, enabling strong collaboration with pupils, staff, and parents.
