A well-established school in the South East, Buckinghamshire, is seeking a dedicated ASD Support Assistant to join their specialist SEN provision. This vital role involves supporting secondary students on the autism spectrum, presenting a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in their educational journey. You will be instrumental in facilitating social communication, adeptly managing sensory needs, and ensuring full access to the curriculum. This position offers flexible contract options, including long-term, daily supply, short-term, or permanent arrangements, with a competitive daily rate ranging from £90 to £115. We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, bringing enthusiasm and expertise to a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to secondary students on the autism spectrum within a specialist setting.
* Facilitate effective social communication skills, fostering positive interactions and understanding.
* Proactively manage and adapt to individual sensory needs, creating a conducive learning environment.
* Support students in accessing and engaging with the secondary curriculum across various subjects.
* Collaborate closely with teaching staff and other professionals to implement individualised education plans.
* Encourage independence and self-advocacy, empowering students to thrive academically and personally.

* You possess demonstrable experience supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ideally within a secondary school environment.
* You have a strong understanding of the challenges and diverse needs associated with ASD, including sensory processing.
* You are an exceptional communicator, able to build rapport and adapt your approach to individual student requirements.
