4. Reporting Concerns
If you are worried about a pupil: 1) Report immediately to the school’s DSL (or deputy DSL if the lead is unavailable). 2. Record factually — avoid assumptions or personal opinions. 3. Never promise confidentiality if a child discloses something — always explain you must share it to keep them safe.
5. Safeguarding in Practice
Schools look for staff who are proactive about safeguarding. This includes: - Following school policies and procedures - Maintaining professional boundaries - Using social media responsibly - Keeping your training up to date Supply teachers and TAs are held to the same standards as permanent staff.
