About the Role
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Science teacher to take the next step in their career. This permanent position, based at a secondary school in Watford, will see you supporting the Head of Science in leading a successful department with a particular focus on KS4 and KS5. The role combines classroom teaching with departmental leadership and offers scope to influence progress, outcomes, and the wider Science provision.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee the delivery of Science at KS4 and KS5, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning
• Support curriculum planning, assessment, and intervention strategies to close attainment gaps
• Mentor, support, and develop staff within the Science team
• Line-manage lab technicians and contribute to recruitment and induction processes
• Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and student progress through data and observations
• Lead after-school revision and enrichment sessions for GCSE and A-Level pupils
About You
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and degree in a Science-related subject
• Proven experience teaching Science at KS4 and KS5 in UK secondary schools
• Strong leadership or subject-lead experience within a Science department
• Excellent communication, organisation, and mentoring skills
