About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Head of IT & Computing to lead a successful and innovative department within a high-performing secondary school. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or aspiring middle leader to take the next step in their career, shaping the strategic direction of IT and Computing across all key stages.

The successful candidate will lead a team committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning, developing a modern, engaging curriculum that equips students with the digital skills needed for success in the classroom and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear and effective leadership for the IT & Computing department.
  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across KS3–KS5, with a focus on raising achievement.
  • Develop a broad, relevant, and forward-thinking curriculum that reflects current technological developments.
  • Use data to monitor and improve student outcomes.
  • Manage departmental resources, budgets, and planning effectively.
  • Support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Contribute to whole-school development, innovation, and culture.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant IT or Computer Science degree.
  • Experience teaching IT and/or Computer Science across multiple key stages (KS3–KS5).
  • Proven track record of raising attainment and driving improvement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A passion for digital education and innovation in teaching.
  • Committed to collaboration, professional growth, and student success.
