About the Role

Are you a recent graduate looking to take your first step into education? This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving secondary school in Borehamwood as part of their Graduate Teacher Experience Programme. The role offers a full year of hands-on classroom experience, designed to prepare you for a future in teaching.

You’ll play a key role in supporting learning across all subjects and year groups — supervising lessons, delivering pre-prepared materials, and maintaining a calm, engaging classroom environment. This position is ideal for aspiring teachers keen to develop their classroom management and communication skills before progressing onto a PGCE or other teacher training route.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring lessons are delivered as planned.
  • Maintain good order and a positive learning environment throughout the school day.
  • Support students with learning tasks and promote engagement across all key stages.
  • Record attendance, monitor progress, and report any concerns to senior staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to uphold school values and standards.
  • Participate in induction and professional development activities to build teaching experience.

About You

  • A recent graduate (any discipline) with a genuine interest in education.
  • Confident, reliable, and enthusiastic about working with young people.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Keen to learn, develop, and progress towards teacher training.
