Teaching Assistant (Bsl Specialist)
We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with a hearing impairment in our vibrant and inclusive primary school. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s learning journey and help them thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to a pupil with a hearing impairment.
- Use British Sign Language (BSL) confidently to facilitate communication and learning.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt learning materials and ensure full inclusion.
- Foster a positive, supportive and encouraging learning environment.
- Assist with social integration and encourage independence.
- Support with phonics, reading, language development and general classroom tasks.
Essential Requirements
- Fluent in British Sign Language
- Experience working with children in an educational or support setting.
- Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Experience supporting children with hearing impairments.
- Understanding of SEND practices within a school environment.
