About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school community, working with pupils who have special educational needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people, supporting them to achieve both academically and personally. You will work closely with the SENCo, teachers, and external professionals to provide tailored support, promote inclusion, and help each child reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide learning and emotional support for pupils with a range of special educational needs.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to assist with access to lessons and curriculum materials.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCo to implement and adapt learning plans.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Support inclusion and social interaction both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining resources and records.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding policies at all times.

About You

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, SEMH, etc.).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach with a genuine commitment to supporting children.
  • GCSEs (A*–C / 4+) in English and Maths.
  • Confident using IT and willing to learn new systems and approaches.
  • Team player who is proactive, reliable, and eager to contribute to a positive school environment.
